Took a picture of the ONE Kickers stand.
Not exciting whatsoever.
What do you think?
I went in again today, and it's almost like they're trying to overdo the "we're an old brand" thing, with quotes stuck on the stand such as "with happiness stitched in." I don't think that would really appeal to their bullseye target age of 19 year olds? The colour of the stand is very boring and mixed with the bright colours of other brands in store, kind of blends in with the wooden floor. (May be a bit harsh?! Ha.)
I looked at all the other shoe displays in the store including Vans, Nike, Adidas Etc and they're so much more exciting and innovative, not to mention wayyy more colourful. It seems Kickers have the different styles on display, just not the colours, is this because it's mainly the black/brown that sells? It looked like they were displayed as school shoes too, and there was even a pair of sale Kickers displayed at the TOP of the stand? Some of this is obviously up the the staff of the store, but what does that then say about the brand? I think Kickers have created the stand as a way to be noticed, but in fact all the people that I saw go in the store walked right past it to look at all the wall displays which had all the other shoe brands in. Hmmm...
I'm going in on saturday to interview one of the guys that works there for research to see which Kickers sell, how Kickers sell in comparison to the rest of the brands, what colours sell best, Etc.
Any other questions you think i should ask?
Also, check out FootAsylum's home page, there is no mention of Kickers being a brand that they sell, shown through theirs pictures & with their description:
"Footasylum: Share the Passion
Welcome to Footasylum, official stockist of Nike, Adidas, G Star, Ugg, Lacoste, Gio Goi, Fred Perry, Henleys, Vans, Converse and much more!"
Here is the Kickers section of the site too... hardy any of them are in the Notts store.
Kicker's is obviously not one of their bestsellers then?!

I agree, I went in there last friday and took a few sneaky photos on my phone so I can post them on here as well. I noticed the sale pair of kickers as well i'm guessing they dont sell that well at all although when I went in there, there was a shoe missing on the stand so maybe they actually sold a pair??
ReplyDeleteI dont think the stand is working at all in there its in such an obvious place but nobody takes any notice of it but thats due to lack of brand awareness I think
An interview sounds like a good idea then we will find out if the kickers actually sell.
Rebecca.
yup, if we find out who their main kicker consumer is in that particular store.
ReplyDeletethe VM in the store is pretty shocking. to me it just reminds me of school shoes-really bland and standard way of displaying shoes.
so in terms of what we're doing; attracting the trend setter...think and display like a trendsetter. needs to be quirky like the shoe and the videos that kickers have displayed. maybe the video showing beside the shoes. big investment for them...more interaction with the shoe and brand, some kind of timeline/history of kickers being different?
sorry, literally just whacking all my thoughts down
